First Hair Tutorial | Braid into Up-do

Okay sooo yet again, I have no clue what I’m doing. This is my first and very short braid turned into a up-do tutorial. ITS SUPER EASY. The videos fast but you can get the gist. I’m attempting to get used to this so I can eventually do my promised “Chelsey curls” tutorial, so we may be well on our way! Again I don’t claim to be some major blogger, so just roll with it!

Braids are such a good way to cheat at fixing your hair! Being in the beauty industry I always have to look put together at work, but sometimes it’s just a crapy morning and you don’t feel like it! Take two seconds to do a braid and ta-daaaa you look like you actually cared (haha! Just keeping it real people).

On the upside of being lazy, they are your best friend when your going somewhere fancy, being that they are easily turned into a up-do! I can’t tell you how many of my girls have weddings and stuff to go to and can’t get in with me, so in turn want to know a quick easy way to throw their hair up! Braids are the answer and the only way you won’t be super frustrated throwing your brush at the mirror! We’ve all been there…. Even me!

So here’s the deets on both looks & of course you always start with a head of tease hair!

I don’t know about some of you guys, but #1) I pay for my hair, ha! And #2) jokes on me cause it’s still looks super thin in a braid! Ever wonder how all those chicks on pintrest get those super thick looking braids? You braid your hair like normal, go in and rough it up a little, pull on the loops and stretch them out. For even more, pinch where the pony tail is and holding the bottom of your hair, hold tightly and push the pony up, this brings it all together to look even fuller. Sometimes if the hair is too long that I pulled with, and some of you you may see what I’m talking about when you try at home, I’ll take that and loop it around the pony and secure inside the braid with a bobby pin. Of course this is just an unnecessary extra step but makes it look a little more fancy!

If your looking to turn this into a Up-Do all I really do is take my braid and basically roll it up (like in the picture below), starting from the pony tail into where your braid started.  Secure with bobby pins and pull some strands in the front of your face down to make it look effortless!! You could even try this with two braids on each side rolled up to meet in the middle, there are so many options!

I think the problem with most people when they go to fix their hair is they over think it, this is hair- it’s not going to be perfect, every strand shouldn’t be in order and personally in my opinion that just looks so boring, trust me no ones ever wondered where mrs. Perfectly pin straight not a hair out of place is going, they are all too busy wondering where the chick with the sexy messed up hair has been! It’s so true, You can’t even deny it!

The BEST Brow Gel

I recently started using this and I am OBSESSED (I know I’m obsessed with everything). Anastasia Beverly Hills has amazing brow products, nothing I’ve tried yet has let me down! Sooo tonight, I’m blogging about their CLEAR BROW GEL – which runs about $22 at sephora.

To be honest my brows SUCK. They are just kinda there…never had too good of a shape and they aren’t super thick. This gel is obviously for all colors since it’s clear and you apply after you fill in your brow with your pencil of choice. It sets your brows in place and literally holds them there, allllll day! I kid you not, I’m super guilty of falling asleep with my make-up on and when I wake up my brows are still perfect lol!

What I love about this too is that the coating it gives my brows makes them feel thicker, gives them a little extra! It doesn’t flake or get super hard like some brow gels, and it doesn’t end up taking off any of the brow pencil I’ve previously applied.

I personally use this under my Anastasia Beverly Hills BROW WIZ pencil, In Caramel. $21

Good ole keds

With the forth of July coming up I figured why not blog about the classic all American sneaker. I am such a sucker for a good pair of keds! So lame I know – but I love them! They are perfect for my typical everyday summer attire, (a pair of Jean shorts and a v-neck) for a super casual look when you want more then a sandal or flip flop. The different colors can just add something extra and not make the outfit so boring ; ) How cute are these leopard ones I got off of HauteLook? These exact ones are discontinued but I rounded up a few of my other favorites below, (mint green is such a color of the moment, polka-dots are always fun, yellow is my favorite, and cutouts in anything are super in right now) of course you can never go wrong with the classic white. (Even though they get dirty as hell!) All of these can be found on the Keds website (they rang about $39-$55) and I always check them out when they are on HauteLook because helllllllooo, they are cheaper and sometimes have things that you can’t find on the website anymore!

Tonight’s shampoo line up!

Despite all of us in shock that I’m actually washing my hair, loll…. These are my 3 new things I’m loving!   The first one is probably the most pointless thing ever, but I’m obsessed with it because I’m the type of girl that loves to pick the most expensive thing on the shelf and roll with it!!! Now Yall know this is a honest blog, so really this is more of a want then a need. It’s kerastases new pre shampoo called “The Gommage” it smells freaking amazinggggg number one and number two it’s fabulous for people like me who shampoo once or twice a week (because we see the value in a little roughed up hair of course!). This was actually inspired by skincare, it’s almost like a scrub, but for your scalp. You put a smidge in your hands, emulsify it, and add it to dampened hair, scrub like you would a shampoo, then rinse and shampoo/condition with your usual line up. This stuff Runs about $44.

The other two beauty’s in the green are literally something I am dying over, this stuff has changed my life – I know I tend to be super dramatic, but this is for real. Changed. My. Life. Or should we say my hair! This is a new line I am just recently getting to know. The name is “Shu Uemura” (it’s kerastase’s sister line, basically).  H2O is thinking about picking up this line in the next few months and my vote for that was 100x YES.

The green is their “Ultimate Remedy” line, and it does exactly what it says, considering it’s for “ultra-damaged hair”! After I wash my hair with this it feels like no other product has ever made it feel before. All my blondes, or anyone with damaged hair for that matter, know how our hair gets a little crunchy in the places we use our hot-tools the most, but with this my hair feels silky smooth, soft and HEALTHY. Amen to this stuff! The only problem is, this line is more expensive then kerastase, but at the end of the day, this is our hair. It’s on our head, and we need to take care of it. Yall know how I feel about that.

Even if H2O decides to not pick up this line, I am sold on it, and will be using this before kerastase, if we are speaking on terms of a product best for my hair and my blondes. (Never thought those words would come out of my mouth)

Happy hair washing people

Chelsey Curls Class

Sooo, I’ve talked about a Chelsey curls tutorial but with my life being so crazy the past few months I haven’t really gotten in the mindset to do that, the life craziness is coming to a end soon and I swear that’s going to be one of the first things I start working on.

With that being said I have so many client, friends, family members and followers who constantly email, text, or comment that they wish I could teach them! I am totally working on and getting it set up to where I can have a little class or two to teach you guys.

Anyone who would be interested in this shoot me a email at with your name and cell number, so I can see just how many people would be interested. Then I’ll go from there and let you guys know what styling tools you would need to bring, price, location ect. Within the next week or so.

Andd the fringe obsession continues

So everyone who knows me or follows this knows I love anything with fringe, especially on my feet (think I’ve said that before) I basically love anything that makes me feel like a clydesdale lol ; )   I found these gorgeous babiessss on Zara online and I am OBSESSED…to say the least. Here’s the details on where you can get these and a few of my other fringe finds right now. And yes, sometimes you just need to buy both colors!!

1. These are adorable, I have to say though people who are a tad on the short side should stay away from these. Very volatile makes such cute shoes but, as much as I love them, the cuff on the top comes up a little high, making your legs look shorter, of course this is just my personal opinion Sooo, do with that what you will! I got mine from Candy Apple on Metairie rd. but in case they are sold out, I also found them at LuLus online. $65

2. How fun are these? I’ve always been a fan of a pop of color, and these are perfect! They are Steve Madden. $130

3. Obsessed with these!!! They look fabulous with shorts or with jeans! I wish I had them in every single color but I could only get my hands on the gray from Selphi on Metairie rd. You can also find them online at Chinese laundry. $100

4. I don’t have these, but they are next on my list! (Just ignore that comment mom, cause I know your reading this) I pretty much wish I owned every shoe koolaburra makes! I’m 99% sure you can find these at Mirabella on Metairie rd. and if not at Zappos. $135

5. The shoe that brought this post on… Sometimes I forget about Zara, but I am super glad I got on their website to check things out the other day, because I love these! They are comfortable and are so cute! Do yourself a favor click  Here and order them in both colors! $100

6. These are the perfect fringe sandles to me right now, they are casual and look super cute with jean shorts, one of my other major obsessions. These are by not rated and you can get them from Macy’s. I’m obsessed with all 3 colors but only have the darker tan one pictured, I feel like that color can go with more. $40

That’s all for my favorite fringe shoes right now!

My go to lip colors..

Soo, as usual my blog posts have been few and far in between, but I’m back this week, and I’m talking about my two favorite lip stick colors!  I have probably been wearing these same two colors from Mac since I could wear makeup, unless it’s winter and then I decide to change it up! They are both soft natural pinks and I use the same lip liner for both which makes it convenient! The top right is called “kinda sexy” this is just a good nude for me with a pinch of pink, Matte finish. The bottom right is “bomb-shell” which is the best color of all time! I tend to wear a lot of warm bronze-y blush and this color is perfect to me because it almost has a little gold shimmer to it! Obsessed with both of these! The lip liner is “in anticipation”.   All can be found at Mac in our fabulous lakeside mall, which id really rather strangle myself then go to orrrrr of course at Mac online.

Chicken & Veggie soup

So apparently, since we live in Alaska and not Louisiana (maybe i’m being dramatic?) it’s the perfect chilly night for some soup! It’s super easy to make, low sodium & no major carbs like rice or noodles, but of course you can add them very easily to make it your own!

SideNote-Every Monday lately since I’ve been on diet patrol, I start off the week by taking a pack of boneless/skinless chicken breasts, normally 3 to a pack, adding about a cup of chicken stock in my slow cooker, season the breasts how I’d like, cracked pepper, sodium free tonys & a little garlic powder and then turn it on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours depending on what I’m doing that day. When it’s done you take the chicken out and shred it with two forks. This can be great for a number of recipes and just makes it easy having that on hand.

Soo, Back to the soup, as I’ve said before when I’ve done recipes, I don’t measure anything out really so season how you’d like and bare with me, this is pretty fool proof!
I start off by sautéing Louisiana’s choice creole seasoning mix (this is in the veggie isle of any local grocery store, you know, already chopped onion, celery, bell pep, parsley, all that good stuff) in a tbsp evoo and a tbsp smart balance butter. Then add however much finally chopped garlic to that. I wait till all that softens a little bit and add 1 medium chopped onion, a pack of ORGANIC FRESH chopped carrots (I don’t mess around with carrots that are in little plastic bags, those things taste like chemicals yall, I swearrrr!)  and a can of “pieces and stems” cut mushrooms.

I normally season everything at this point withhh… Salt free Tony’s, a little bit of garlic salt, Mrs.Dash table blend, cayenne pepper,  TONS of cracked pepper, and emeril’s Italian seasoning, put the top on the pot and just let the vegetables cook through.

Once the veggies are done I add about 51/2cups of sodium free or low sodium chicken broth and add in my shredded chicken! Wait for it to all heat up and then alllllll doneeee!

Clearly it’s lent and a Friday, sooooo I shouldn’t be eating chicken, but I’ll assume God will still love me ; )

Painted Antler Decor…

So I owe the fact that this post is possible to my adorable ex-boyfriend who staying friends with has its perks- he’s fun to look at, I can normally annoy the crap out of him and make him do things when no one else will, he’s BRUTELLY honest with me (which usual backfires on him) and he hunts which means I was able to get this deer antler out of him! See they are all good for somethin’ ; )

I’ve seen some like this on pintrest and love them, so I decided to copy! All you need is painters tape, with whichever spray paint colors you want. I used gold, white & silver because those are pretty much the colors in my house. I sprayed the whole antler white first, then marked the places I wanted to be gold, left over night and did the same in silver!

If you look some up, there’s some super cute ones with like mint and gold or even some pink. You can just spray the whole thing gold, which I may even do if I decide it matches a certain room better.

If your ex-boyfriend doesn’t hunt or you don’t speak to him at all, you can always go on etsy and search dear antler! They have them for like 20-40 bucks depending on the size, or you can just skip the D.I.Y. Thing andddd buy some already painted.
