My Honey.

I know this blog is normally about fashion related things, how to cook something yummy, or even how to decorate – it’s about helping all my sistas & sharing lots of aspects of my life! This post is more on the sharing my life side…

Tomorrow I get to give my grandma “honey” an official goodbye. I’ve never really experienced the loss of someone SO close to me in my life yet. And I never even really imagined what tomorrow will be like….I kept thinking today to myself when I was shopping for something to wear “I can’t believe I’m shopping for this”. All I know is I’m sure I’ll be a basket case.

Ya know it’s funny, I don’t know why we tend to write these things on Facebook or social media, we know the person can’t physically read it but I guess we (or I personally) find comfort in being able to get the words out. I think maybe it makes us feel good to share our love for someone with the world & of course having people send some extra prayers your way is always amazing!

I guess I’m writing this post because I just want to get it all out & because this is something I can look back on….

___________

When I was 18 months old, my parents got divorced and my dad moved in with my honey and papa. I would continue to live there (obviously when it was my dads days) until my senior year of high school. This has been & will always be honestly one of my greatest blessings in life because it gave me the opportunity to become so bonded to my grandparents. Honey was in a way not just a grandma to me but a second momma! She always cooked for me, would pick me up from school, she took me shopping, she came on disney trips with me and my dad, and she never ever missed a grandparents day or a dance recital. She was always there to listen, and would offer the sweetest advice in return. Her sweet hugs & I love you’s we’re truly felt! She was the epitome of what a grandma should be. She just took care of me..

And it wasn’t just me that she took care of either, she was an amazing mom, the most loving and caring wife, she took care of her siblings whenever needed and as their lives came to an end, she even watched my younger cousins instead of them having to go to daycare. She literally lived for her family and the people she loved and gave without expectation of anything in return, she was completely selfless.

In the more recent years our tables had turned. Everyone honey took care of was taking care of her. She had spinal scoliosis which always bothered her, she had bad arthritis in her knees and a few other things that basically just made her “hurt all over”. All in all I think she was just tired and her body was just tired as well.

For a while now I’ve spent my Wednesday’s with honey. My nanny was always with her to keep her company and I wanted to relieve some pressure from her and my papa. She’d sit in her spot at the kitchen table and we’d watch family feud, full house, or dancing with the stars. We’d play battle, she’d talk about some of her childhood stories, or would just sit in silence when she’d want to. And she’d always always hold my hand (her hands were soooo soft, it’s so weird to say but my god am I going to miss the way her hands felt when she’d rub mine).

Having honey in my life taught me so many things. Little ones, like always having your face made up & your hair fixed. That the fridge is a place for your loved ones art and pictures, but that was the only thing that was okay to be messy … the rest of your house better be O.C.D. clean. She showed me how to make the BEST breakfast egg + cheese sandwich, and that you can cook a freakin hot dog in a cup of water in the microwave (now how handy is that?! haha). With all the small things she also taught me big things, things that I can only hope to carry through in my life as well as she did. Things like to always care for and think of my loved ones in everything I do, because it shows them how loved they are. To always show up and be there for your family/friends…. and that family is one of the MOST important things. To try to always see the good in others (“don’t be ugly”), and to see the bright side in situations. She taught me to pray – and to pray hard in times of need or guidance “god, hears you” he is always listening and in some way or another he will answer your prayer.

Tonight I am praying that my honey rests in peace and that me and my family can get through tomorrow as best as we can. I’m praying that honey can continue to live on through all of us, through our love and actions with others.

Ryan said something the other day that I keep finding peace in when I’m upset – he said “you can’t selfishly want to keep her here for yourself”. I know he is so right. I wanted her here for me, even when I knew (and maybe didn’t want to except) that she was in pain. I am going to miss her more than I even have the words to explain. Every time I think about that she’s really gone it feels like someone punched me in the stomach and knocked the wind out of me. Still, at the end of the day, she can’t be here because me or anyone else wanted her to stay. She’s in a better place, no longer hurting, and I know she is SOOOO happy to be with all her siblings and her whole holy crew that she constantly prayed to! I know she is smiling her smile down on all of us.

Honey left a legacy with our family, she was the most amazing and beautiful person inside and out. She was my angel on earth & now she’s truly an angel in heaven.

Thank god for pictures, videos, voicemails, & memories. They’ll be what I’ll have for now until I see her again! I love you honey!

November 2018 Life Update

Hey y’all! If your new here I do a post every few months with a little “life update” filling you guys in on what’s going on + things I’m loving! Let’s dig in! ….

Whats been going on and what’s to come?

LOTS has been going on haha! Since my last “life update” post I’ve gotten engaged & started planning out wedding! It’s so fun, but Jesusssss does it keep you busy!

The last few months were a blur & October FLEW by! Ryan’s birthday is October 15th so I threw him a very small surprise party & planned him a surprise vacation to Disney’s food and wine festival! We had a absolute blast!

As of now, for the “what’s to come part” I know the holidays will be here before we know it so I’ll be getting ready for that and working on some great holiday content for you guys! And for the first time in a while I can say we have nooo trips coming up – at least until after January! I think we go skiing in February!

NOLA to do’s for me right now…

Yall! … I FINALLY made it to TURKEY AND THE WOLF the fried bologna sandwich was absolutely amazing and Ryan got a chicken salad sandwich which was also SO GOOD!! I’m putting this on my list because it has now become YOUR Nola to do haha! TRUST ME!

I’m also hoping this weekend to maybe have an uptown day with the boys, we drove down magazine the other day and they have SO much new stuff!

Do y’all ever feel like there so much new going on in the city that you can’t catch up!?! Haha! I wish we had more time in the weekend!

Store that I’m loving…

Vici Collection they have the cutest stuff at a VERY good price for the quality of the clothes! They don’t fall apart and are definitely pieces that you can have in your closet for a few years! I feel like some stuff is trendy here or there but for the most part they will work as classic pieces to add to your closet. Their clothes are also more age appropriate, not as young looking as places like forever21 can sometimes be!

Things I’m currently slackin’ on…

(because life + me ain’t perfect)

• DIETING – my Jesus I need to pull in the reigns .. and quickly before thanks giving is here pahaha!!

• WORKING OUT – I have zero motivation right now! What the hell yall?! How come sometimes we can be super motivated and then other times we literally give zero Fs to get out of bed?! I’m thinking next week I am going to start strong and start my BBG again!

• TIME MANAGEMENT – this is weird for me because I am such a crazy planner! I don’t think the problem is necessarily managing my time right now, as much as it is that I have my hands in too many things!

Just a few things I’ll be working on getting together in the next few weeks haha!

Book I’m about to dive into…

Just Jessie is Jessie James Deckers new book. It’s supposed to be her guide to love, life, family, & food. Which all sound good to me – all my favorite things!!! I’m interested in reading this because I’ve kept up with her for a while now, she is a person who seems to completely embrace who she is and has a total take it or leave it attitude. She’s not embarrassed to be herself … do yourself a favor and follow her on Instagram and you’ll see what I’m talking about! Also, if you’ve ever seen her and her husbands reality show you’d see why you’d care about taking a few notes from her on love! Her and her husband seem to have a fun + loving relationship and don’t lack in keeping it fresh!

I’ll let y’all know my thoughts when I finish up with this one!

Last movie I saw worth talkin’ about…

Ocean’s 8 this movie was SO CUTE, and totally a different take on it than all the other oceans because it was ALL GIRLS! Total girl power movie! This is a little bit of a mystery movie type I guess you’d say … your trying to figure it out the whole time! Or maybe I should say it’s just suspenseful? I don’t know pahaha I’m not a movie critic I just know it was good and wanted to recommend it to y’all!

___________

That’s it for this session of “life update” from here on I’m sure I’ll be wedding planning like crazy and Christmas decorating like a nut haha!

HAVE A FABULOUS REST OF THE WEEK MY FRIENDS!

2018 DISNEY TRIP

Hey y’all! I have been getting a TON of questions about my Disney world attire so while waiting for our plane I’m putting together a post of things I took to Disney, almost bought & even things for our men + kids!

Listing the things I bought first & the others will come after!

– THINGS THAT CAME WITH –

Gucci Mickey Shirt | $22

Minnie Mouse Tee | $20

Rose Gold Minnie Ears | $25

Chucks with Gold Embellishment | $50

Rose Gold Adidas | $59 – $129

– THINGS THAT ALMOST CAME WITH –

– MENS –

– KIDS –

Our trip was SO fun! I decided I wanted to surprise Ryan with a trip for his birthday back in April – I sat around and considered a few things but when it came down to it I just kept thinking about how much fun we would both have in Disney. Neither of us had ever done the food and wine festival and it’s something we’ve both mentioned wanting to do. I decided to go for it because I knew I couldn’t go wrong with that choice, disney lovers will ALWAYS be thrilled to hear they are going there.

Now everyone’s like whyyy would you want to go there and be around kids as an adult trip, or why would you go without a kid (aka or Hayden) but ummm has anyone reading this ever been to Disney without kids?! It’s AMAZING, a totally different feel & type of trip! I ultimately picked it because of the food and wine experience, and I loved the fact that it would be somewhere we’ve both been to and could just have funnn! We wouldn’t have to worry about where to go, how to get there, what to do next. Exploring new things is always fun, but I wanted this to be something easy!

I have to admit, this trip ended up coming at a perfect time. Ryan’s been stressed with tons of work & ive been stressed with work + wedding planning! Being able to run around and have a blast being big kids was perfect! We spent our first few days doing the parks, on Monday we made it to animal kingdom, mgm, and magic kingdom! That’s crazy! The last day we spent at Epcot for the food and wine festival, this was one of our favorite days! It was relaxing believe it or not, because we got to stroll around without any agenda! We just stopped at all the countries, checked them out and ate/drank!

Basic Witch Halloween

Hey y’all! Hoping on to share two cute Halloween ideas with y’all! .. ones SUPER basic and actually a costume I hold near and dear to my heart, because I do it every. single. year. The other is going to be a first for me! I’m stepping out of my comfort zone!

I’m actually typing this up while in line for a ride at Disney world, so this post is kinda shitty but you get the gist! … I took some pictures quickly of my costumes before I left the house and couldn’t actually find a big part of my second costume lol but I’m still tagging it so y’all can see it! Wanted to get this post out in time for y’all to order!

First up is the classic cat! Helllooo, this is so easy and it’s just what I need .. ears to throw on after work while I’m in a rush to get to trick-or-treating or a costume party! Normally I wear all black, but this year leopard is in, so I’m stepping it up!

Leopard Bodysuit | $15

Cat Ears | $8

Second on the list is 80’s workout Barbie/Girl! Again, simplicity is key for my life. Lululemon leggings and a metallic bodysuit it is! Im missing the leg warmers and sweat bands because I was in a rush to leave the house for our trip and I think the cleaning lady hid them from me! But once you threw those on this would be so cute!

Metallic Bodysuit | $16

comes in TONS of other colors! Gold, Silver, Pink, Green etc.

80’s Workout Accessories | $15

Happy costume-ing y’all!

How to care for your Pumpkins + Workout Attire!

Happy Thursday people! Today is a weird mixture of things on the blog but just roll with me!

First let’s talk about pumpkins … recently while visiting a pumpkin patch in bay St. Louis I got the down low on pumpkin care. Umm, who knew these things could be babied? APPARENTLY there’s s few things we can do to keep them with us until September!

• Don’t pick them up by their stems.

• Don’t let them collect moisture/leave them out in the rain. (You should bring them inside to keep them dry, however, this is an issue when you have 3836647 million on your porch like me.)

• Don’t let them sit in water.

• If they must be left outside and do get wet, turn them upside down/stem facing down. This allows the water to not sit in the bottom of the stem.

All of this is supposed to prevent them from rotting.

Now, on to workout attire.

Recently I’ve discovered a company called Girlfriend Collective. They make workout clothes out of recycled goods, which is pretty cool. I mean your basically shopping and helping the environment!

Anyway, I love these honestly because they do remind me of Lululemon. They are a tad cheaper which is a win win. The quality of the compression leggings are amazing and they don’t ride down + are super soft and comfy!

The set I’m wearing in the picture above is there light color and the thing I love about the sports Bra that’s under my jean jacket is that it is long line and I’m not stuck showing tons of tummy!

I would size up if you order from this line!

Linking my exact look below but tagging others in a slider after that! They have TONS of fits in pants and bras!

Compressive high-rise leggings | $86

Longline Bra | $38

– MORE OPTIONS + COLORS –

Faded Denim Jacket | $34

Let me know if you guys have any questions! This workout attire in my option is COMPLETELY worth the price. I am one to buy cheaper workout clothes or leggings here or there but they fall apart half the time honestly! Workout clothes and leggings are something we run around in a ton so why not spend money on something good that will last!?

Favorite Keep It On Track Apps

Hey guys! I’ve been wanting to work on this post for y’all for a while now! Finally getting it together and getting it up!

If you’ve followed along for a while you’ve got the memo over time that I’m a chick that A) enjoys to eat and B) has to work to keep it off. Wether it be working to keep it off in the kitchen or the gym – Its a constant battle and I really need to buckle down when/if I want the scale to go down haha! But generally I am a good girl all week and then come Friday, I literally just jack it all up and eat whatever I want because … it’s the weekend duh! I guess that’s my form of “balance”.

I wanted to share a few apps with you guys that I’ve used when I’m trying to maintain or lose …. and I REALLY LOVE them! They help keep me on track when I need it and they’ve even helped me workout (because two of them are workout apps). Some are free and some will cost ya $20 a month!

Let’s get right into it! Below each app I am posting screen shots so y’all can have a little preview!

SWEAT | $20 a month

I’m listing this app first because I absolutely LOVED it and saw real results! Kayla Itsines is the creator of BBG (the bikini body guide) it’s a 4 week program. Each week you have 3 resistance workouts and 3 cardio workouts. The resistance workouts are 28 minutes long and are broken up into 7 minute intervals. The cardio can be anything you want (walking, running, biking, elliptical) for 30 minutes! I love this app because it shows the person actually doing the workout (like a video) & not just a photo. Over the winter I went outside every morning in the backyard and completed these, but then as it got hot I backed off haha! The workout is too loud to do inside for me because it requires jumping jacks and stuff like that, so I’m scared I’ll wake the boys up at 5am. Around my 4th week I really started seeing a change in certain parts of my body and noticed things were firmer. If you google the reviews on this you will be blown away by how many people think it’s a successful program. I also will say that it makes you check off the workouts you’ve done so it makes you feel accomplished and hold you accountable to keep going! I’m actually looking forward to it getting cooler so I can start this again!

8fit | free

Posting this app after sweat because it’s a LOT like it. Almost identical + Free = YES PLEASE! One of my clients that’s a trainer actually showed this to me and again I love it because it’s videos of workouts. This is a lot like the BBG concept, telling you to do the round on repeat for certain amount of time or reps!

Weight Watchers | $20

I can not say enough about how EASY & EFFECTIVE this program/app is! This is the only program (we’ll call it that instead of a diet) I’ve ever used that actually kept weight off without gaining it back as soon as I got off of it. This is because weight watchers doesn’t restrict what you can have but teaches you to be mindful of portions and shows you what foods you should be intaking the most! One you get used to seeing/knowing how much and what you can have it becomes second nature. The app makes the whole process A COMPLETE BREEZE! billions of people use this so it is so easy to type something in and if you can’t find it or don’t feel like it, there is literally a barcode scanner that will enter it all in for you! For those that aren’t familiar with it weight watchers helps you reach you goal of loosing or maintaining by telling you how many points you can have a day! As long as your staying within your points, I guarantee you’ll see results quicker then you’d think!!!

Lifesum | free or $4 a month

This app is one of my favorites because it allows you to track your foods and daily habits. It can tell you how many calories you should have daily to maintain or reach your goal and also has a ton of recipes to help you get there! They all looks SO yummy!!! It also has different meal plans with different type of recipes like if your trying no carb, keto or things like that! The pro offers more and can be customized to your needs I think!

workouts | free

This app is free and is good for those who just want to put together their own little workout on your own time! Maybe you just want to do and workouts every night before bed, or try some booty moves before you hope in the shower every morning! This app lets you pick your section and you can complete from there! Again this app shows videos!

MINDBODY | free

I love this app because it keeps all your local workout classes in one little area! Here you can look at all the classes going on around you, sign up for them + add them to your calendar! It’s great to be able to explore what wellness + beauty business are around as well.

7M | free

This app is another great app for a HITT workout! Mimicking BBG again with the 7minute rounds – only here you can pick if you want to just do one round or maybe go for 3?! My favorite thing about this app is that the intervals are quick! So you don’t get bored!

That’s all I got! If any of you guys have any exciting apps that you use or have any diets + workout classes you’ve used and loved let me know!!! And of course if yall have any questions about any of these, feel free to ask me!!!

Happy Monday y’all!

WERE ENGAGED!

So this post is a little late to the game haha! I have been so crazy busy I haven’t gotten around to it but I’ve been meaning too because I want to answer all yalls questions about how, who, what, when, where and get y’all all filled in!! I love being able to share my life with you guys and y’all have no idea how much every sweet comment & well wish means to me! Y’all are the best little blogging family and I appreciate every one of you guys that read/follow along!!

So here it goes – our engagement story!

If your new to the reading game, I’ve been with Ryan for about 2 and 1/2 years now. We moved in last September because we both agreed that we thought it was important to live with someone before you married them. Throwing that out there to say that we have had a few talks about marriage obviously being the end goal but neither of us were the types to run around mentioning it everyday.

One particular talk happened after coming home from someone getting engaged, we were talking about how pretty her ring was. When I mentioned how she did a good job picking out her ring, Ryan went on to express how much he thought that picking a ring out should be a surprise, he would never take someone to pick out a ring and that it’s a special gift from the guy to the girl. He also continued on to say that he feels the whole thing should be a surprise. YALLL, WHATTTTT. Those of y’all that know me. Can y’all imagine me in this conversation. “yea totally” “yea surprise are so special” … Inside I’m like hoooolyyyy freakinnn control freak is this dude serious?! The thoughts in my head were like Jesus Chelsey if you ever get engaged you’ll be wearing workout leggings and end up with some kinda heart shaped purple diamond on a big bulky band or something. (nothing against heart shaped/purple diamonds, they just aren’t my thing.)

I have never even told Ryan my thoughts after this conversation, so if your reading this, I totally love you & believe that you have amazing taste however I am the most picky chick with jewelry and I was scared for my fingers life from that point on when the thought of us getting engaged would cross my mind. I was also petrified at the thought of never knowing that it was coming because I hate surprises and knew I wouldn’t be dressed in something amazing and accidentally white! …. just saying!

Anyway, fast forward. August 16th I didn’t wake up feeling like any other day. I woke up feeling like I was 30 … EW! Ryan brightened my morning by surprising me with the best gift, a new purse I had my eye on- I was officially convinced 30 wasn’t going to suck! I headed to work and celebrated there with fabulous work fam & picked Mexican for my dinner of choice that night! .. side note : One of my clients actually text me in the morning and was like omg I had a dream you got engaged … my reply was “pahhh I wish! I just got a new purse so that’s not happening too” apparently she’s psychic and me and Ryan cracked up at this a few days later!

so back on track … My birthday was on the 16th and Hayden’s birthday is on the 18th, Ryan wanted to go out to dinner just us three on the day in between, the 17th. He asked what we wanted for dinner and desert. We picked Venezia’s for dinner, I threw on jeans, a causal wedge, and a flowy top. The flowy top was a must because obviously I knew I had plans to eat everything in that place. Dinner was deliciousssss and when we left I proceeded to get in the truck telling the boys “this is the best night everrrrrr! I had lobster & Alfredo all at once in the same meal” plus we were headed to get ice cream at Shake Therapy so that was a hugeeeee cherry on top.

We got our shakes and while we were sitting there drinking them, Ryan was randomly like “let’s go drink these out by the river” … okayyyyyyyy I thought, we hopped in the truck and headed over to where we could sit on the river and drink our shakes. “Whattttt are we doing?!” Me and Hayden continued to ask on the way but I was like whatever Chelsey maybe he’s just trying to be fun and do something different for yalls birthday?! We got there, joked around for a minute and Ryan was like hey let me take a picture of you and Hayden. We took a few pictures, being silly because I think me and Hayden were both like whattttt the hell is going on here lol! Then Ryan asked Hayden to take a picture of me and him but on his phone not on the good camera. I’m a pro at wanting to take pictures so I patiently waited for him to walk on over.

When he did he stood by me for a sec and then started to bend down.”what are you doing” came out of my mouth a few times, “are you kidding me” and then “aweeee I love you” while I bent down to hug him. Ryan proceeds to crack up laughing on one knee “I didn’t even say anything” at this point I’m sitting on his knee and am like “well sayyyy it, say ittttt” pahahaha!!! He asked and of course we all know I definitely said yes! It was so funny y’all, I was so surprised and just shocked & it was such a blur! Thank god hayden was actually videoing and not taking a picture! I have the video but haven’t decided if I want to share it on here just yet Incase we do something with it for the wedding?!

In the midst of all this I didn’t even really pay attention to the ring. I was so excited and jumped up and down like a little girl, shed a few excited tears, and all 3 hoped in the truck to leave and start calling people! … on the walk to the truck it set in, waitttttt a second what does this ring even look like?! Heart shaped diamond city?! I flipped on the light in the truck and was like thankkkkk Jesussss this is perfect! He got me a round diamond on the most dainty band with small little diamonds around it! It was SO perfect, he did an amazing job picking it out all on his own! Now, how the heck did he know what I would have liked?! I’m like “how did you even know what I would have liked?! It’s perfect!” He actually had the jeweler come to the house and use my rings to see what size and type of jewelry I had! Most of my jewelry is super dainty and gold, so they rolled with it! Obviously the ring is a minute detail here but it’s every girls big deal haha!

End of the story is that A) I can’t believe this guy actually pulled off this amazing of a surprise. B) that my 30th birthday proved to be the start of some amazing times + the lobster and Alfredo was NOT why the 17th would end up being the best day ever. And C) I wouldn’t have wanted to experience this any other way or with anyone else! I am so over the moon that I get to spend the rest of my life with Ryan + Hayden and I know without a doubt in my mind that Ryan is the BEST fit for me! He brings out the best in me & complements me as a partner so well. I know in him I have a lifelong friend/love! From the day I met him he opened my eyes to the way a relationship and love should be and I’m so blessed/thankful to have found that with him! … I know I’m getting all mushy on y’all haha!!!

Now – heres a lot of questions y’all have been asking!

• Did my parents know? No haha Ryan told not a single soul! How? I don’t know because that would have killed me!

• Did Hayden know? No. He found out right when I did!! What’s funny though is that at dinner we played truth or dare and the two times Ryan said truth Hayden asked “when are you giving Chelsey a ring?” “No really when are you and Chelsey getting married?” He had esp that day!

• Have we set a date? Yes officially! Our regular anniversary is May 6th. That doesn’t fall on a Saturday though so it will be May 4th! I’m excited we are doing that and keeping it around the same time!

• Are we having a big wedding? NOPE! we are keeping it small.

• Whats the plans? We had a little hiccup in our venue plans last week but did damage control and officially locked down the venue two days ago! It will be a destination wedding, but isn’t actually too far haha! We are getting married at a gorgeous spot in Bay Saint Louis. We flirted with the idea of the beach, or maybe even Mexico but both fell in love with the Mississippi thing because we are actually building a camp in the area and feel like it’s perfect because it’s a place we’ll have ties too!

• When’s the parties? we’re not having any! Haha! I think we mutually decided we don’t want a big fuss over any of it + we already have too much stuff! Combing two houses into one has left is with a large storage unit lol!! So parties/ no presents!

That’s all the news I’m sharing as of yet! I plan on keeping y’all posted along the way and am thinking of doing some blog posts with wedding planning tips if some of you guys would like just one big one on that? I know a lot of my followers are between their mid 20s to late 50s and that tons of y’all are already married haha! BUT I know there’s a few that might appreciate the info as well!!

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you guys & again I’m so thankful for each and every one of y’all that follow along and show the love!!!

30 Things I Learned in My 20s

So, I am officially a 30 year old! I was laying in bed last night typing this and feeling excited + sad about this whole situation pahaha! I am aware I’m being a little dramatic! It’s just a number right? Another birthday!

ya see, kissing this decade goodbye is kinda bitter sweet! It was a rollercoaster, I experienced a lot of love, a lot of loss, a lot of fun, a lot of lessons, a lot of growth in career, a lot about people and relationships, & a LOT about ME! When I say a lot about me, I mean a lottttt – I got real with myself, spent a lot of time with myself, and really figured out what makes Chelsey happy!

My 20s were just overall a major time for me – they were empowering and created some of my BEST times that brought me to my best me!

With that being said though, I know the best is definitely still yet to come!! I have an amazing family, friends, career, & I don’t even know what I’d do without Ryan and Hayden! I plan on making my 30s even more amazing than my 20s, especially since I have all these fabulous life lessons tucked in my back pocket now that I’m so old and wise 😜

What are these fabulous life lessons? Your in luck because that’s the whole reason for this blog post …..

HERES 30 THINGS I LEARNED IN MY 20

1. You are in charge of your life / the only person that’s in charge of the things you want/don’t want and is responsible for your happiness is YOURSELF! If your not happy, no one else playing a major roll in your life can really be.

2. Take the vacation / there’s always time for the day to day routine, it’s not going anywhere! Getting away & having a change of scenery with friends, family, or your loved one is something you never regret!

3. “Whatcha gunna do” / I adapted this life motto in my mid 20s, and let me tell ya it’s the freakin truth! When life throws you curve balls, big or small – guess what? It’s what you’ve been dealt! and guess what else? There’s absolutely probably not much you can do about it! Learn to roll with the punches + sit back and enjoy the ride! Life’s easier that way!!

4. Your mom is ALWAYS right / you grow up thinking this is bullshit. It is totally not.

5. The worst will get worse but the best will keep getting better / when you think it can’t get worse, it probably will – but then you’ll come out smarter, stronger, & a billion times better then you could ever imagine! Trust me.

6. A little kindness goes a long way / sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest impression! Being intentional about treating others the way you want to be treated is a game changer!

7. Drama is exhausting, & so is being mean and ugly / it takes so much less energy to just be nice and it has a way better effect on your mood as well! drama is for the birds, I’d rather shoot it down and focus my time/energy on things that actually matter. I like to think I kissed drama goodbye in my mid 20s, and now you couldn’t even pay me to engage in it.

8. Looking your best will make you feel your best / having a bad day? Just add lipstick!

9. Be present / this is something I am still kinda working on! We’re always so busy planning for tomorrow, next week, next year. Sometimes when you block it all out it feels amazing to just live in & appreciate the moment happening right now!

10. Honesty is the best policy / the truth ALWAYS comes out, I don’t care how long you’d think it can go. It. Always. Comes. Out. Being honest from the get go is probably a lot easier & keeps you out of a lot of trouble!

11. Some alone time is the best time / moments to yourself are CRUCIAL! Get inside your own head a little & take a break from everyone else’s thoughts, needs, & wants!

12. What Sally says of Susy says more about Sally than Suzy / if someone’s being negative about you the problem that they have is more likely with themselves. easier said than done but you can’t take these things personally & kill them with kindness!

13. ALWAYS wear your sunscreen / skin cancer in your 20s is a real thing, been there, done that & have the scar by my eye to prove it!

14. When opportunity knocks answer the door / if you get an opportunity, big or small, go for it! Small things can lead to bigger things and sometimes taking on something you think you can’t handle brings you somewhere you’d never thought you’d be!

15. Gossip isn’t a good look / something I’ve learned in my later years! You never know who knows who & you probably wouldn’t want anyone gossiping about you!

16. Exercise is your friend / as much as you hate it, you gotta admitt …. you always feel better when your done! And when it becomes part of your daily routine your body + mind do better!

17. Support your sistas / I’m a huge advocate for women empowering women! There’s enough room in this world for everyone to succeed – we should build each other up instead of trying to one up each other! Congratulate each other’s accomplishments, compliment each other’s looks, & cheer each other on! And for the love of god help a sista our if she needs some direction or advice, you never know when you might need the same!

18. Give without expecting something in return / there’s fulfillment in sacrificing for others!

19. Pick your battles / not everything requires your attention! If its not life threatening, someone getting something major over on you, or something that’s not going to matter in a few days, it’s probably not worth the energy!

20. Quality over Quantity / this goes for lots of things in life – clothes, girlfriends, alcohol …. But seriously, with the girlfriends be thankful if you have a handful of good ones, these are the people who mater and deserve your time/attention. They will show up when it matters most and you’ll do the same for them!

21. Family is everything / literally these people are stuckkk with you! be grateful for them, they love & will be there for you like no one else!

22. Dating as an adult is FUN if you play your cards right / dating in my mid 20s was so different then dating when I was younger! I mean hello you know what you want/like and your secure enough in yourself to know the shots you want to call! The person taking you out can afford to go to nice places and they probably aren’t super needy because they have their own life + career going on too! I had an absolute blast dating and took the opportunity to discover even more what I wanted in a partner and what I didn’t! (Of course that all brought me to Ryan and I definitely love being with him more the single a thousand times over lol but you get the point) if your single, enjoy it!

23. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time / people are who they are. Don’t waste your time looking into it or thinking they will change, because it’s just that simple!

24. If something fails, it just means there’s something better coming / think about it, has this ever not been true! I thinks it’s almost proven! Always hold out for that silver lining!

25. Everyone has a love language, and you should know yours / knowing and understanding how you receive and give love will make all your relationships easier, with spouses, family, & friends!

27. EAT THE BURGER / life’s too freakin short! Enjoy the things you love!

28. Live life on your own timeline / this is something I am currently working on because people can put some freakin pressure on! They think because they just got married, or had a baby, or got a new job, that you should be too. This isn’t true because your not them and your situations special to you! what’s meant to be in your life will happen at all the right times so you just just enjoy the ride and experiences!

29. Show gratitude / to others & yourself! Be grateful for all you have + all that’s to come! There is so much to be thankful for in this life!

30. Just be YOU / your the only you in the world, and that right there should inspire you to be and give the best version of yourself to everyone! Embrace who you are in every aspect – be proud of yourself and your story! After all, we’ve all got one!

Amazon Top Picks

Hey y’all! Who else thinks that amazon is theeee bomb!? It took me a while to join the amazon prime world, but once I did I never looked back lol! Out of all the places to order from, amazon is always my favorite! They literally have EVERYTHING and it getting here in two days makes it even better!

I thought it would be fun to do a post on the things I order from amazon the most frequently or have ordered over again because I loved them + all the things that have been the most popular with y’all!

Let’s jump right in…

Breast Covers | $27

Okay, I know this is a weird first thing on the list but it has to be … I HAVE BEEN ORDERING THESE FOR YEARS! These are the best nipple covers (am I allowed to say that in here?) I have ever used. Most covers literally just cover the nipple, this makes them easy to show under a shirt with lost of fabrics. Since these are smooth silicone that go around the rounds of your breasts they aren’t ever seen! I normally get about 10-15 uses out of them. They are super easy to stick on and when I’m done with them I run cold water over them and let them dry over I before sticking them back to the paper!

Woven Summer Bag | $17

one of the top selling amazon things on my LIKEtoKNOW.it! You guys LOVED this bag! And when I wear it I get tons of compliments! Be aware it takes a few weeks to come in!

Brush Shampoo | $15

Brush Drying Rack | $18

Brush Cleaning Mat | $22

Another popular follower pick sold through insta stories to you guys – My favorite items for makeup brush cleaning! This makes the process so easy & quick! Plus the mat insures your cleaning your brushes that you spend good money on the correct way! For brush shampoo I either use the sigma cleaner listed, which I love! Or if I’m out I just use Tea Tree Hand Soap which is gentle on brushes and has other natural benefits! The brush drying rack is a MUST for me, I learned a while ago from a makeup artist that laying your brushes on the side or putting them in a cut bristles up is totally not good for your brushes. It makes the water sit at the bottom of the brush causing mildew and other bacteria eventually+ other things! Being able to hand the brushes bristles down insures proper/quicker drying!

Jelly Thong Sandals | $13

Just had to order for my second time. I wear these almost EVERY OTHER DAY to work. They have lasted about a year, I blame the needing new ones on wearing them so much and slipping them on without undoing the buckle because I’m lazy! This is a good buy if you need a easy sandal that will go with anything! I feel like the gold detail allows you to dress it up a pinch.

White Bohemian Tassel Earrings | $12

Pink Thread Earrings | $13

Both big earring favorites with you guys! Statement earrings are always a great way to add extra wow to an outfit!

Large Buckle Gucci Belt | $19

Thin Gucci Belt | $15

Y’all, I’m the first to admit. I own real stuff & fake stuff. This sista has real Gucci purses and fake Gucci belts! Why spend $500 when I can get it for under $20?! Hellllloooo! I personally don’t see a belt being worth $500 and I also think belts like this are a trend at the moment. I own the large in black, it’s actually considered a men’s belt and I ordered that because I wanted a larger buckle. We did have to add extra holes & it came with a tool to do so! Super easy! The thin Gucci belt I ordered in brown and black, this is very smaller and the “GG” is a little bit larger then the size of your jean button.

3 Piece Hard Case Luggage Set | $129

This also sold like crazyyyy!! This luggage set is amazing for the price and was a total copy of the calpack luggage my mom has for less then half the price!

Invisibobble Hair Ring | $9

My favorite pony tail holders! I order these time and time again, since pony holders always seem to disappear! Because of these being spirals they leave NO creases in the hair! Perfect for pony lovers & working out!!

Silplat Non-Stick Baking Mat | $17

Something Ive ordered a few times of the course of the years. This is amazing for baking, roasting and basically anything in the oven! It takes the place of foil or a pan & doesn’t require any spray! It’s my favorite for baking cookies, it gives you the perfect non-burnt bottom every time!

Bathing Suit Cover Up | $17

Y’all were OBSESSED with this bathing suit cover up! It sold like hot cakes & is something that continues to sell from the blog! It comes in tons of colors and I’d size down!

Sugar Bear Hair Vitamins | $33

A almost monthly re-order for me & the best/most effective hair vitamin I have ever taken. Click HERE for a full blog post & review on my experience with them.

Faux Fur Cuddler Bed | $34-$129

Price range depends on size! Y’all loved this bed for your pups! It’s neutral to match any room and is a smidge fancier then your regular ole’ dog bed!

PomPom Beach Hat | $16

Loved & received so many compliments on this at that I ordered a second color! I loved this hat because the buckle and pompoms make it not just your boring old beach hat!

Acrylic Eyeglass Display | $16

One of my smartest amazon buys & one of yalls favorites! The CUTEST way to display your glasses & the acrylic makes it match any type of decor!

Now THATS some good stuff huh?! At least I think it is pahaha! If y’all have any questions do not hesitate to ask! I’m always here to help if you guys need anything!

5 Qualities That Keep Our Relationship Stong!

Hey y’all! Happy Wednesday!! I haven’t blogged in like a week I think!!!! That’s crazy, but last week was a pretty rough one so I decided to totally unplug and enjoy my weekend with the boys!

Speaking of the boys, today’s blog post is all about my boy! He’s a mannnnn, not a boy but you get the gist! Sometimes I get to thinkin’ about how lucky I am to have Ryan and thankful I am that we share the relationship we do!

I thought it would be fun today to share 5 qualities that I think keep our relationship strong! Of course these are things that work for our relationship specifically, everyone has their different things that work for them and different qualities that they look for/need in their own relationships! I know I always enjoy reading things or getting ideas that can better any relationships in my life or just better me as a person – so whether your in a relationship, single, married or whateverrrr, I hope all of you guys can relate to this post!

1. Being each other’s biggest supporters

We are always supporting & encouraging each other professionally and personally. I always want to see Ryan do/be his best and I know he does with me too! I want him to know I’m his biggest fan and will help him achieve anything if I can – even if it just means telling him how great he’s doing and being his cheerleader! If he’s asking my opinion for a job I always try to be 100% present in the conversation and think of the things that will be best or if I’m doing something for the blog and need help with a picture or an idea he’s always right there brainstorming with me or being the photographer pahaha!

2. Being accountable & understanding

At the end of the day me and ryan have always been in agreeance that neither of us is ever just wrong or right. We agree that neither of us are perfect and we take ownership for the things we say/do in our relationship. We admit when we’re wrong, even though that’s not always fun pahaha! we also always try to hear and be understanding of each other’s feelings/thoughts because it’s important to know where each other is coming from. This actually used to be such a hard one for me but I’ve realized life is so much easier when you can except and embrace your faults – sometimes we owe it to our partner or even any of our relationships to put our pride aside and keep it real!

3. keeping it fun

Before I started typing this we were actually upstairs playing Mario kart .. and no Hayden’s not even home tonight 😂 this sounds silly (and obviously you don’t have to play a video game) but doing something fun and silly with your partner can keep you laughing together and bring on some friendly competition!! It’s nice to keep things light sometimes in a world full of stress! Ryan’s obviously the one that’s better at being silly then me, he constantly keeps my laughing!

4. Making big efforts in small ways

Sometimes the littlest things & smallest acts of kindness can show your love the most! Coming home to find a random thing I mentioned I needed or something done in the house we’ve been talking about always makes me feel good and shows me how much Ryan cares. I’ll try to do little things like leave a “I love you” post-it note on his desk or randomly have his favorite candy bar in the fridge. These may seem small and silly but it shows your partner you were thinking of them and took time out of your day to show it!

5. We share interests

Obviously Ryan’s a guy & of course we don’t share interest in ALL the same things. He could care less about what nail polish color I’m picking next, whats happening in the next bachelor episode or falls new “it” color! Even thought we don’t all the same things we still love doing certain things & have certain interests together! We both love anything home related – building, fixing up, or decorating! We love trying new things together, trying new things on the weekends, being adventurous on vacations & really doing anything outdoorsy with one another! It’s a healthy and important thing to be able to bond over new things & like interests and I’m so thankful we’re both good sports when it comes to that!

I think life when it comes down to it is all about relationships – what would we do without our parents, our siblings, our significant others, our children, friends, or even our coworkers? If a relationship is important to us it’s always good to sometimes sit down and think about the qualities you love or even maybe the things we need to work on!

I’m super thankful for all the relationships in my life because they all add something special here or there in their own way! And while we’re saying that I’m thankful for all my blog readers too & the friendships I get to make with you guys – even if it’s behind a computer!

Sharing this book in the slider because it’s honestly one of the best books I’ve read! I read it at a time when I was completely single and I think it’s a good read for anyone at any age whether your single, in a relationship, or married!! It opens your eyes to the fact that we all want to be shown and receive love differently. What I think shows love and what my partner might think shows love could be two totally different ways and obviously understanding that can make a world of difference if you use the knowledge. I really think it had a hand in me understand relationships and becoming a better partner/understanding myself as a partner better!
