Mantle make-over

When my husband and I purchased our gutted Katrina home there were for sure a few issues I had, like the fact that my stepdad would later have to take a couple feet out of our living room to make my closet something I could work with (Id be spending more time in there anyway, It was a no brainer which room was more important). And also the fact that I had no fire place! I couldn’t deal! Where would I hang my Christmas stockings?! Were talking about real life problems here people ;p

My fabulous work husband Dane ended up giving me a mantle as my wedding present (The loubies I kept asking him for just weren’t happening). We hung the mantle, had someone come and faux finish it to look like a stone-ishh affect and I waited a few months while I contemplated what would be the best thing to do with it since I knew I didn’t love just seeing it so plain. I definitely think it doesn’t hurt to live in a space for a little while before you go off buying things just to buy them.

Wallpaper was my answer and it’s for sure making a come back! They have so many patterns and textures right now, and you can totally transform a room with the right pattern and placement! Putting up the wallpaper was easier then I thought, granted I only did a super small section :/ I found a white wash brick wallpaper online, watched a few utube videos and got to work! With the wallpaper, a fireplace screen, and a few white birch logs I found on etsy, I’m loving it!!

Over the weekend….

BRILEY BRUNCHIN’

One of my best friends Michelle is a bride to beee, so all of her amazing bridesmaids threw her a small brunch to get together and talk party dates! The spread was super adorable, so simple, and actually didn’t break the bank!

We had donuts for days and a cute mimosa bar! I love using mason jars for decoration because they are perfect for anything! Drinks, food, flowers, or utensils! A lot of my server wear is either from tj maxx or zgallerie! I swear, if you go to tj maxs and you can find a so cute cake stand, it’s worth your while to snag it! Basically every time I go they have at least one or two!

The chicken and waffles were mini-eggos and chick-fil-a nuggets, so easy & so yummy! The pancake stacks I poured using a small measuring spoon and the french toast sticks were actually in the freezer isle, we served them with syrup to dip in!

KIMONOS & CROP TOPS

First and foremost, let’s start with the crop top issue, Seriously they are adorable, but they have to be worn correctly! I’m a curvy girl so I have to find the perfect fitting ones that hit the right spot on my body or they can end up doing absolutely nothing for me! I will always pair a crop top with something high-waisted and I think most of the rest of the population should stick with that rule too, justt saying!

Kimonos are so in right now and I’m loving this one I got from Bella Bella on Metairie rd. They are right next to the salon, so I’ll sneak over there a good bit in between clients ; ) I paired it with high-waisted floral shorts for a more night time look, but went with wedges instead of heels to still keep it on the casual side!

Here goes nothinnnn’

Hi to all who happened to click on my website & welcome to my little blog! A few months ago my dad needed to brush up on building some websites & asked if he could build me one for hair, he could practice and I could build my business, naturally as we daughters do, I told my dad “that’s lame” and naturally as parents are, he was RIGHT. The website was a good idea and got a little bit more attention then I thought. So, I’ve decided why not take advantage of it!

Ever since I can remember I wanted to follow In my momma’s footsteps, it was pretty clear when all my barbies had botched up haircuts that I was destined to be a cosmetologist ; ) Needless to say my haircuts have vastly improved from the Barbie days and I’ve been at H2O salon and spa on Metairie rd for a little over 6 years now. I can’t describe how much I love my career, the coworkers I have and the clients I get the pleasure of working with everyday! I love making people look and feel amazing! The saying is true “love your job and you’ll never work a day in your life”.

With the encouragement of some of my clients, family & friends, I’ve created this blog for all of us that love some sexy hair, a fabulous outfit & the feeling we get when we find that perfect finishing touch to our living room :p I’m a total feminist, Women are amazing! No offense to men, but now a days some women do it all, they play every role & the average girl wants that to be as easy for them as it can be and look good while doing it! We can all use a little tip or trick here or there to make our lives easier! All that being said, here goes nothing! Any of you beauty’s feel free to let me know if there’s anything in particular you want to see!
