Nylon legging

Loving these nylon legging I snagged from Forever 21, they remind me very much of the few pairs of koral lustrous leggings ($88) I have but for less than half the price! Of course they don’t feel as awesome, but for the look they work! I’ve never been on to discriminate against price, some things I love are a ton of money and some things I love can obviously be $10! Its a win, win!! I got a pair in both this Hunter green color & black – they are out of my exact legging in this color but I linked two similar below. They are around $12!

Find them

here & here

I love these because they can be worn with workout attire to the gym, comfy clothes for a more chill look, or you could throw on some heels + a chunky sweater and dress them way up! VERSATILE IS ALWAYS A WIN!!!

Simple black booties

Loving these ankle booties I recently got off of one of my favorite shopping apps! They are simple so they go with a ton of stuff, pairing them with a legging is my favorite look though!

The sock bootie is really in and I feel like these almost mimic that look because they are a tad higher and tighter around the ankles then your regular type of booties! They are under $50 and come in a really cute camel color as well! I will post both colors below so you guys can take a look!

Spooky cupcakes

Hey y’all! I know it’s a little late but at the same time I feel like you can reuse this idea for next Halloween and/or go out and grab a few of these things for future cup cake making blog posts!

Of course I am by no means a chef, or a professional baker – but I love to do and be able to share with you guys some of the simple little fun things that we all probably think are hard and we couldn’t do haha! I do love to bake but I love the easy short cuts that will still kinda wow people! Most things look more complicated than they are after all!

Giving you guys a list of things you need with pictures & links below, snag them + your favorite box cake mix/icing & you are set!

  • Halloween decorations

Candy bones & grave

Mellowcreme pumpkins

Grass Sprinkles

+ a bag of Oreos, we all know what those look like and where to get them!

  • Cupcake decorating tools

Decorating tips

Decorating bags (they sell rubber bands for these to tie at the end, I use hair ties because obviously I am a hairdress)

Tip coupler

Now that you’ve got all your supplies, it’s time to start decorating! Now I know this all probably looks overwhelming and your probably like “no way can I do this” again, if I can do this you can! TRUST ME! My first few times doing this I would fill my bags with icing and practice doing a spiral (for icing on the cupcake) on a paper plate! IT IS SO MUCH EASIER THEN YOU THINK!

Anyway grab your bag, cut a small hole in the tip, put the silver decorating tip in the top of the tip coupler and put that through the whole you cut in the icing bag (you may have to cut more once it’s on to make it come through), then screw on the bottom of the tip coupler. If my directions seem difficult don’t worry there are picture directions on the box – so follow those lol!! Fill your bag with icing but leave enough room to be able to twist the top and tie it! And ALWAYS make sure you have more icing then anticipated, running out of icing sucks!!!

Once your cupcakes are VERY COOLED start using your icing tips to make your spirals on top (I know this isn’t the correct terminology but whatever lol)! Then place your decorated candy graves on your cupcake, these started to fall back a tad so I placed a toothpick behind them to help keep them up! Then I alternated placing bones on some cupcakes next to the grave or pumpkins!

After that I added a few sprinkles of grass to each cupcake. While in a separate bowl Ryan crushed up some Oreo cookies without the filling, which I then sprinkled closer to the grave and bones!

Viola! THATS ALL! These were so cute and easy, the most complicated part is getting your “spirals” right!

Give me some feedback on wether or not you guys think this was easy to follow and let me know if you’d maybe like to see a thanksgiving cupcake idea?!

Outfit post!

Hey my friends! Soooo, since I’m a girl who absolutelyyyy loves to shop (Okay, more like a girl who has a shopping problem) & who loves to talk about shopping/share where I shop, I’ve wanted to get into outfit posting! My style is definitely a more laxed look, unless Ive got a fancy night out, then you’ll most likely catch me in a tight dress! The other 60% of the time I am hands down always in my 15 pairs of black lululemon leggings! I’m not some big time blogger & don’t have anyone taking professional pictures of me every other day, but this is a hobby of mine and something I enjoy so why not just go for it! If I know i’ve helped one or two sistsas find the perfect shirt, earrings, or shoes then that puts me in a happy mood any day!

After getting the nerve I decided why not just post mirror pictures to share my fits & where to find some steals (even the big time bloggers have to settle for a mirror pic sometimes!) In my dreams my mom, Ryan or one of my besties would get really into photography and would like to take pictures for me but until then, this will do! If you guys are ever are wanting to know where something Is from feel free to comment or message me!

Outfit details will be posted underneath picture

Transforming Halloween decor -> to Thanksgiving

Hey y’all! So, I am clearlyyyyy a girl who is obsessed with tablescapes, I decorate my table for pretty much every holiday! Any reason to decorate and I am all about it!

I was pretty obsessed with my Halloween table this year! Velvet pumpkins, crows, birdcages & lots of moss! Moss is a Halloween favorite of mine, it’s spooky & super cheap when your momma lives in Destrehan! Rhonda gets me moss every Halloween!

I was on a big hunt for a nice size white urn that wasn’t like $300 bucks for the table, everything I found was super expensive, too fancy, or a yellowishy cream/grey color! I had my eye on one from wayfair that I loved everything but the color, so with the help of Ryan we painted it white with Annie Sloan chalk paint, and then he kind of sponged gray chalk paint on it I’m pretty sure but I wasn’t around for that! He is the best because he entertains my little projects! I’ve linked it here from wayfair, it was around $50 and with the help of the paint its something I know will get a lot of use for all holidays or any kind of décor around the house!!

So to go from spooky to more of a thanksgiving/fall feel I wanted to lose the moss and bring on more fall foliage! I wanted to keep my velvet pumpkins, of course, as the main focus and also reuse deer antlers I had previously got (I’ve posted that in a previous post with links but will link more options again below). I thought of replacing the moss with leaves but wanted to keep things more simple because of the velvet pumpkins. Branches or pinecones popped in my head, I ran to michaels and found both! I decided to grab pinecones with white tips and figured I would use them around the table if they worked, using the branches as the urn filler!

I’ve linked a list below of things used in this tablescape and will also link a few sites for velvet pumpkins ranging in price as well as my place settings from pier1.

Décor for tablescape

  • branch bundles here
  • white tipped pinecones here

Plate settings all from Pier1 (some of mine are no longer in stock but I’ve linked similar looks)

White wash deer antler (here is a past blog post that explains what I used to make them white)

  • Option on Amazon here
  • Option on Etsy here
  • Option on Amazon here

Velvet pumpkin links

  • Options on Etsy here
  • Options from RBlooms here

I filled the urn with the branches and replaced the pumpkins leaving some on the side to look like they spilled out! The branches were easy to bend and break to help me fill in under the pumpkins and to help prop them up! I added a few pinecones to fill in empty space and placed the antlers around the urn. I also added dinner plates on top of my charger to dress it up a little more!

Overall this didn’t cost a lot because I’ve collected some of my decor over time! The velvet pumpkins are costly but they are something you will be able to use over again – and, I think they are a good investment because they double as Halloween & Fall decor! The antlers are a good thing to have around as well because I pull them out for Christmas as well!!

      Rose gold sneaks

I’ve been a sucker for adidas lately, wanted to share this cute pair with you guys because they are a different option then your typical black super star! I love them because they can work with both your workout attire or with regular clothes for a more laxed look! So cute with a little casual dress or jean shorts! I linked some websites to get them herehere, and here because apparently trying to snag a pair is rough!

If these aren’t for you I also linked these rose gold  Nike’s that I think are super cute! XoXo, Chelsey Rae

Your huge hair care mistake & my latest product obsession

So lately I can’t help but realize how many of mine and the stylists around me clients are making a major mistake, we are all guilty of wanting a deal but in lots of instances that’s not always the best route to take. HEAR ME OUT: Lots of my clients walk out the door saying they will buy their shampoo on Amazon, they have seen the big bottles at costco or “oh I get my Paul Mitchell from cvs” What many of you guys don’t realizes is these products are expired, tampered with or full blow counterfeit.

Let me share a few experiences/things I’ve came across …  I never knew that beauty products have a expration date, maybe that’s the clueless in me butttt, THEY DO! There is a little circle thing on the back or bottom of the bottle on any beauty product that has how many months it’s good for- It’ll say 12M, 6M, or however long! so, these places that are selling salon guaranteed products are putting old expired products on their shelves in old packaging and leading you to believe your buying legit stuff!

A few years ago when I was in hair school at Paul Mitchell they came in and told us all this stuff about places selling their product, if you see it on the shelves you call Paul Mitchell and they go pick it up from cvs, Walgreens, ect. I was thinking to myself during the discussion, “this is so bs” of course they want people to think that and only buy in salon! Well walking though cvs one day I decided to see if all this talk was true…Paul Mitchell sells a product called “the conditioner” it’s blue, when I opened the top of “the conditioner” in cvs, it was white. Not blue. FAKE! I was pretty shocked that they actually were right, salons that are going out of business (or just trying to make a extra buck) will fill their empty bottles with junk and sell in bulk to drugstores.

And lastly, within the past week one of my very good clients recently said her hair hasn’t felt as good, “what are you using?”, “Kerastase” being her answer … “Well you haven’t bought kerastase from me”.  “Amazon” she replies, ding, ding, ding! Of course I proceeded to give her this whole fabulous lecture and she was like oh my gosh I thought the consistency of the product felt different! The even better part was when we discussed prices she was maybe spending like two dollars less, that’s so not worth it! And addressing the Costco issue, these big bottles they are selling? They are back bar bottles, they are for stylists in salon to use in a shampoo room, Whyyyy would Costco have them? Oh because they are in the company’s packaging that changed 4 years ago and they probably sat on some salons shelves for forever! 4 year old products on your hair? GROSS!

Anyway people lets get real, you wouldn’t buy discounted mac makeup from anywhere other then Mac and put it on your face right? Then why would you spend tons of money on your haircut or color and then go buy yuck i.e. Fake or old shampoo and put it on your hair?!

Now moving on, let me RAVEEEEE about my new obsession. Kerastase is always amazing, but I’ll be honest I’ve never felt like any of their shampoos/conditioners smell amazinggggg or have a smell that lasts, untilllll nowwww! I’ve been using their newest line Aura Botanica and I loveeee it, so much so that I’ve been bathing with it and using the conditioner as lotion when I get out the tub pahaha! I can not get enough!

On top of the fabulous smell, it has marrocan argon oil, (ya know everyone is so big on marracon oil now) which helps fight fizz, a.k.a. this Louisiana weather, for up to 72 hours! It’s 96% all natural and has no silicones, sulfates or parabens! Since I’ve been using it my hair feels super soft, i’ve been getting more compliments, and this is all I’ve been using different so I know that’s what it is! When I was doing a little product research I saw it has rose water in it and that explains a lot because I loveeee anything with rose water!

Bottom line of this whole post, we spend tons of money on our haircuts & color, it’s on our heads and in my opinion is our most important accessory! So spending a little extra money on salon quality shampoo should benefit you & your locks in the long run, wether it’s the Paul Mitchell or kerastase price range, you can’t go wrong!

sorta D.I.Y. planter & fall porch decorating

When I posted staining my front door planter on my snap story I had a ton of people ask where I found it and what I was staining it with, so, I figured I’d to a blog post and give you all the scoop!

Truth be told I searched for a planter online and around town for a few weeks and didn’t find anything I loved that wasn’t like over $200 bucks (because let’s be honest my mom and dad have always said my special talent was finding the most expensive thing in the room to buy!). I ended up running to Lowe’s in a last stitch effort to not spend that and found the perfect size/look I wanted & of course didn’t love the color, but for $50 I figured I could doctor it up somehow!  I’ve linked it HERE for anyone who has asked!

Recently moving into Ryan’s I’ve discovered the power of white wash (my mans house is gorgeous, but he’s a man and likes manly darker colors, so I’ve had to put my white mark on a few things, I like to think he knew what he was getting himself into) pahaha! I’m telling you I got this stuff from Sherman Williams, I’ve just about thrown it on everything I could and am pretty impressed. I didn’t know how it would do on the fiber glass but it worked out fabulously. I’m telling y’all we’ve put it on wood (obviously), table coasters, vases, like EVERYTHING!

Anyway, I couldn’t find the exact link for the stuff but I have a picture of the messy can I use. It’s pickled white oil stain from their wood classics line. You mix it up real good, take a paper towel, blot it on the surface your staining and then fairly quickly take some kind of  fabric (old t-shirt, or towel) and rub it around/wipe it off till your getting the color your looking for. If you use the paper towel to wipe it, the paper towel falls apart, so go for the fabric! If you just want a light wash one time is good but if you want a more opaque look you can layer after about 4 hours. Side note: be careful with this stuff, it’s called a stain for a reason, it stains concrete front porches too, oops!

below is the side by side – so you can definitely see the difference the white wash makes! I call it a white wash that’s probably not the correct term but that’s what it is to me so we’ll just roll with it!

Another side note for people who ask about the pumpkins, Whole Foods & Trader Joe’s are the place to go! Someone told me dorignacs had white pumpkins and I headed there grabbed a few and was looking at them in my basket like “these suck for $8.99”, so I put them back and was like whatever I’ll spend the extra money at Whole Foods for big pretty white ones! Helllllooooo I get to Whole Foods and they are $6.99! Moral of the story Whole Foods had bigger, prettier, pumpkins for less & dorignacs should be ashamed of themselves  for trying to get inoccent little pumpkin lovers to spend more on crappy pumkins! Pumpkin prices add up when you want a billion covering your porch! Trader Joe’s are the same price & the gray pumpkins are also from whole Foods, they have all kinds of different colors and sizes! I got front porch crazy every year with mums & pumpkins! Though I always seem to kill the mums! For those looking Lowe’s was the only spot I found white ones, Home Depot had a ton of different colored ones as well!

      Happy fall porch decorating

      XoXo, Chelsey Rae.
